Ralph L. Geisberg 09-11-1916 - 04-26-2009

Ralph was born in Anderson, SC, and lived his whole life with an amazing curiosity about how the world works. He graduated from Clemson University in 1937 with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. His first engineering job was in Akron, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Anne Orlinoff. They were married in 1941, and came to California that year so he could pursue a career in aeronautical engineering. Ralph earned his master's degree from Cal Tech in 1944. His contribution to the field of guidance technology is legendary as he helped to solve many aeronautical problems found in this new industry. He was one of the pioneers in the new field of GPS technology. Long after he retired from General Dynamics, he is fondly remembered by his team.

Ralph and Anne raised their two children, Jeannie and Leon in Pasadena in a home that Ralph designed and built. Ralph and Anne enjoyed folk dancing, and traveled the world to share their talents with others. in the late 1970's Ralph and Anne moved to one of their favorite cities, La Jolla, CA. There he furthered his study of painting, and became a talented artist showing his work locally and in Paris, France. He was a vital member of the Market Street Artists group. Ralph especially enjoyed painting ocean vistas near their home at the beach in La Jolla. Another favorite location to paint was in New England, where he made an annual trip to take in the fall colors.

Ralph touched many people with his humor, intelligence, generosity and love of life. he passed away in April of 2009 after a life well lived.
